Having a quick read of the AMA's 2017 policy and commentary on the NFA leads one to think that Australia's peak medical body to which we owe so much (truly) are only trying to help. The alternate view point is that the AMA, like many medical associations, are unable to sort out their own rank and file and materially prevent the damage they wreak upon the public. When you look at statistics for deaths due to medical negligence and incompetence the hysterical bleating around gun control begins to fall into a far distant second place. In 2013 a reported 18,000 people died from medical negligence. It strikes one as the height of hypocrisy for the medical profession to lecture law abiding firearm owners on how best to secure and mange their firearms when the profession itself is apparently responsible for ~18,000 people dying in one year Are these statistics correct? Any sane person would prefer to see the AMA spend their money on an accurate account of their own error and resultant butchery so WE can all determine how best to manage THEM. My pencil is sharpened and ready for the great National Medical Management Agreement. Compared to any mass shooting this level of death warrants long overdue action. Can we rename Gun Control Australia to Medico Control Australia? Photo courtesy of Pinterest, attributed to dreadjim.deviantart.com.
