Interesting piece in the GC Bulletin. Retiring ladies to the Gold Coast are buoying up recent firearm registrations and increasing demand for access to shooting facilities. All nice and good till the usual rabid commentators let loose with prophecies of cheaper guns for crims because there will be more registered firearms. While I applaud the refresher on supply and demand it really is an insult to a persons intelligence to think that crims will pass on any kind of discounting to their compatriots and this will have a meaningful effect on the adoption and use of guns for crime. The LNP rep is not much better. While this is all standard fare for the current times what I do not appreciate is the positive story with commentary from the SSAA rep followed by the hack job from the LNP and academia with no opportunity for reply from the SSAA or response from pro gun parties such as One Nation etc. the first part of the story promotes the facts and positive context with the second half providing a one-sided forum for hysterical agenda promotion.
