Is the SSAA relevant in the fight for gun rights? Has it been particularly effective in changing the draconian regime shooters are forced to endure? Does it’s federal government representative achieve much for the ordinary Australian shooter? It would seem to me that the SSAA is the equivalent of a motoring club rather than the ‘peak’ body representing gun rights and advocating a rollback of the NFA. With reportedly over 186,000 members, how many would agree to a $10 levy and fund a $1.8 million war chest to allow co-ordinated political and court action to stymie the activities and agenda of the leftist gun grabbers? One of the main reasons America has slowed their erosion of gun rights is through effective court action and lobbying. I put it to the SSAA executive that they are neither effective nor a peak body representing all shooters and their rights. We need more than another statistics tour de force. We need action that will make the political class deal with shooters as respected equals and not the foolish whipping boys we are currently viewed as. 2018 is the year for the SSAA to stand and deliver!!! Get political, get active, and make a difference.
